Evolving 2D Walker

A population of random wheeled vehicles tries to roll across uneven terrain. The Genetic Algorithm (GA) keeps what works and breeds new variants.

How it works

1. Each chromosome encodes a vehicle: body polygon shape, wheel positions, wheel radii, and motor strengths.
2. Each vehicle is dropped onto the terrain and runs until it falls, stops, or hits the time limit.
3. Fitness is how far the vehicle traveled along the course before its run ended.
4. The fittest vehicles become parents; their offspring inherit a blend of their traits with small random changes.

What to watch

• The leader board updates after every generation. The current best is shown rolling in the foreground.
• Early generations produce comical failures. After a dozen or so, designs that look almost intentional take over.
