Three kinds of badges¶
Ladders have five tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Each tier unlocks when a running counter crosses a threshold. The counter keeps climbing after you hit Diamond, so there is always a sense of progress.
One-shots have a single badge that fires the moment a specific action happens. Once earned, they stay.
Collectors have a single badge that you earn by completing a whole set (for example, every quick-start template). When Vilvik ships something new that extends the set, the badge dims and re-arms until you complete the addition.
Ladder badges¶
| Badge | What it tracks |
|---|---|
| Submission count | Total successful runs you have submitted. |
| Account age | How many days your account has existed. |
| Generations stepped | Lifetime total of generations run across all your submissions. |
| Invitations sent | Invitations you have sent, measured as a percentage of your per-user cap. |
| Pages explored | The number of distinct Vilvik pages you have visited. |
| Engagement streak | Consecutive days you have signed in. Missing a day resets the streak. |
One-shot and collector badges¶
Nine one-shot badges mark first-time moments: your first submission, your first public share, your first API key, and similar milestones. Three collector badges track full-set completion for quick-start templates, interactive demos, and the curated page map.
Problem badges¶
Every problem type has its own badge, shown with that problem's logo. You earn a problem badge by running that problem to a successful result, not just by opening it. The badges are grouped by family so they are easy to scan: classic optimization, routing, numeric and linear, clustering and machine learning, neural networks, and your own problems (a from-scratch run and one for the Problem Builder).
When a new problem type ships, its badge appears in the right group automatically, ready for you to earn on your first successful run.
Demo badges¶
Every interactive demo has its own badge, shown with that demo's logo. Demo badges are earned for real performance, not for opening the page. Each demo has a goal: an evolved agent reaching a strong score in a game, a solver actually solving the puzzle, a clear likeness in the painting demo, beating the agent at Connect Four, and so on. Reach the goal and the badge lights up.
Like the problem badges, demo badges are grouped by nature: the live agent games, physics and evolution, optimization and routing, and the visualize-and-play demos.
Clicking a badge¶
Click any badge on your achievements page and a small burst animation plays, followed by a modal that explains what the badge is for and how to earn the next tier (or re-earn it, for collectors).
Hidden achievements¶
A small number of achievements are hidden. You will not see them in your collection beforehand, and there is no checklist. They show up in your notification bell the moment you unlock one.
Collector badges and new content¶
When Vilvik ships a new quick-start template, demo, or curated map page, any collector badge that covers that category dims automatically. It re-lights once you have completed the new addition. This means a badge can go from earned to pending and back over time.
Notifications¶
The system sends a notification each time you earn a badge. You can control whether those notifications reach your bell, your email, or both from the Notifications tab on your profile page. Look for the Achievement unlocked row in the matrix and toggle the channels you want.
Frequently asked¶
Can I lose a ladder tier I have already earned? No. Ladder tiers are permanent once earned, even if the underlying counter somehow dropped.
My streak badge shows a lower tier than I expected. The streak counts consecutive calendar days. If you signed in twice one day and skipped the next, the streak resets from the skip day.
A collector badge I earned earlier now looks dim. New content shipped. Visit the new item (template, demo, or map page) and the badge re-earns automatically.
I earned a hidden achievement but do not see it in the grid. Hidden achievements appear in your notification bell. Once you have earned one, it also appears in the grid like any other badge.
I opened a demo but its badge is still locked. Demo badges are earned for reaching the demo's goal, not for opening it. Let the run play out until it hits the goal (a strong score, a solved puzzle, a finished painting, a win) and the badge unlocks.
I ran a problem but its badge did not light up. Problem badges unlock on a successful result. If the run failed or was stopped early, run it again and let it finish.
